Rosenblatt Stadium held 8 of 10 largest College World Series crowds in history

Texas-ASU 2009

When talk of replacing Rosenblatt Stadium began to swirl around Omaha in 2007, one of the reasons cited for a new stadium the need for more seating. At the end of the first nine years of play at the new stadium (Charles Schwab Field), it would appear that the demand for more seating may have been overstated.

Key takeaways:

  • The largest single-game crowd at Rosenblatt Stadium (30,422 on June 19, 2008)  exceeded the largest crowd at TD Ameritrade (27,127 on June 15, 2013) by 12%.
  •  After nine seasons, the largest crowd at Charles Schwab Field to date comes in at #7 on the all-time attendance list.

It looks like the City of Omaha could have saved its taxpayers about $130 million by keeping Rosenblatt Stadium alive.
